29 Week Ultrasound

These ultrasound pictures were taken on December 23, 2008. The boy is on the left and the girl is on the right.

Cockroft Shower

Yesterday was the Cockroft Family Gathering/Baby Shower. We had a lot of fun seeing all of the family. It's always great getting together and I wish it was possible to see everyone more often. With the babies coming, the next family get together will include four generations of family members! :)

For the shower, Grandma Cockroft came up with a great idea and had everyone get their favorite children's book for the babies and write a little something in it. There were so many books that I had forgotten from my childhood. I know both of the babies will love them. The messages in them were all very sweet and I know the kids will cherish them as they grow up.

I've taken a few pictures of the babies room with all of the books and stuffed animals they also received. As you can tell we definitely need to pick up some book ends for the dresser. I think we'll do that next weekend when we pick up a second closet rod for the room.

The Babies are Growing!

The babies keep growing and growing. April is really starting to have a tough time with it. What is very interesting is the fact that the babies pick up on the weather patterns. In the same way as the rest of us may feel sinus pressure as a storm rolls in, the babies can also feel the pressure and react by becoming a lot more active. This has made it very hard for April as the last few storms have arrived late in the evening. The babies have not been letting her sleep.

April at 20 Weeks

This picture was taken during our Anniversary Weekend. Our official Anniversary dinner ended up being Taco Bell, but we made up for it throughout the weekend by having a lot of fun and eating Longhorn's on Sunday.

April at 16 Weeks

This picture was taken on September 25th.

April at 11 weeks

Here is a picture from the start of our pregnancy. At this time April is only 11 weeks pregnant. She was already complaining about the weight gain. :)

First Ultrasound

Being Pregnant with Twins

So at this point I have heard and taken all the advice from Singleton moms that I can (singleton = single birth). Everyone has advice or suggestions but they for the most part only apply to them or to just having a singleton. At 29 weeks I cant tie my own shoes, I find putting socks on an ordeal, I've returned to vomiting with some frequency and can only eat small meals because the babies are taking up so much space internally. The twins like working over my ribs, hips and nerves. Slowly taxing all my energy reserves. My life is being overrun by doctors appointment and hospital visits. My emotions fluctuate from moderate to extreme, having more crying fits than ever before in my life.

Yet, through all of the above, every time I see a new baby shoe, I get all mushy and excited about the little things growing inside of me.

The beginning

Well it really isn't the beginning. April is almost 29 weeks pregnant now and is ready to be done. The babies still have another few weeks of growing before they come out to play with us. That is ok though, I'm still adjusting to the idea of becoming a Dad. Some days I fell very prepared other days not so much.

I'll be doing my best to keep this blog updated with the going ons with the rest of the pregnancy and all the joys of raising two babies at the same time. I figure it'll be great to look back on when the kids are grown. The plan is to post pictures and video. I still need to get a video camera. The Sony SR11 is a top candidate.

2009 will definitely be an interesting year.
